Google Kormo Jobs: another move into recruitment
Google is testing a new recruitment app
Google quietly released Kormo Jobs, an app aimed at people just entering the job market. It works both sides of the table — candidates looking for their first gig and employers looking to fill entry-level roles.
Here is how Kormo Jobs looks in the Google Play Store:
On the candidate side, you can:
- Build a profile with your job preferences, work experience, and education
- Export that profile as a CV
- Get job offers matched to your profile automatically
- Schedule and manage meetings with employers
- Access skill-building content
On the employer side:
- Post job ads
- Get matched with relevant candidates
- Manage communication and scheduling with applicants
This is not Google’s first move into recruitment. A few weeks ago, we wrote about Google Cards (link to the article below), which let users create professional profiles visible across Google search. Those work for job hunting, hiring, and business networking. Kormo Jobs is more focused — it is strictly a recruitment tool.
Both products are currently being tested in Asia. The choice of testing ground is interesting: LinkedIn’s presence there is relatively weak compared to Western markets, so Google has room to experiment without going head-to-head with an entrenched competitor. Smart move.
I will be watching where Google takes this. If they decide to scale Kormo Jobs beyond Asia, things could get interesting for LinkedIn and the whole recruitment tech space.
